About this blog
Imagine… four-year college graduates who clearly express their thoughts and passionately share their ideas. Graduates who analyze problems and create solutions. Graduates who fit socially and professionally into the working world.
In short, graduates very different than the current four-year crop.
As I speak on campuses, talk to students, and (more importantly) listen to them, I’m constantly amazed at the difference between the skills their degree taught versus the skills that they need for real-world success. Likewise, I’m often shocked by the narrow, out-dated, and out-of-touch perspectives firmly held by many lecturers and professors.
There’s a huge and frightening disconnect between the learning world and the working world, and it gets bigger, bolder, and broader with every new class of graduates.
Rather than simply wring my hands over the situation, I created this blog as a place to launch discussions, invite dialog, catch some lightning, and change the world. (And maybe make some trouble along the way. Goodness knows, those things just happen sometimes.)
I certainly don’t have all of the answers, and I’m probably missing many of the questions, but it’s better to start sailing toward the horizon than to sit on the dock and play with the maps.
The journey begins today. Will you join me?
